A Farewell from The Bridge

Dear Family and Friends,

This next Thanksgiving will mark the 10-year anniversary of The Bridge. It has been an amazing ride that we have shared with you all. It is therefore with a heavy heart that we announce that this year will mark the end of The Bridge. After ten years and thousands of miles, the harsh realities of life on the road have led us to a point where we can no longer sustain ourselves as a band. We fought on to continue for as long as we could, because we truly believed in our music and cherished the deeply special connection that we have built with our audiences throughout the years. But at the end of the day, the economy won, and we are forced to close up shop.

What started as a show for our friends on one Thanksgiving Eve has led us on a wild, beautiful journey beyond our expectations. The long van rides, smoky bars, sleepless nights, wicked hangovers, cheap motels, and flat tires were all worth it for the chance to play music for you all and create those special moments that we live for. It has been the most rewarding experience of our lives. In true Bridge fashion, we will be giving you everything we have left for the rest of our shows. We will be playing our final residency at 8×10, the house that built The Bridge, in the coming weeks, as well as our beloved All Good Festival, our favorite day of the year for the last 7 years. And as if it was meant to be, we will be closing out our run as a band on our 10-year anniversary, Thanksgiving Eve, at Rams Head Live. We plan on cherishing every last moment we have with you as The Bridge.

As chapters end and new ones begin, we will continue to pursue other musical endeavors, and hope to keep the spirit of this community alive. We are forever grateful to you all, the people who we have gotten to know so well through the years, as well as those who have worked so hard and given so much of themselves for the band. And lastly we want to thank each other, the members of the band both past and present, for sweating out the tough times and celebrating the high times together to try and live the dream. We are truly brothers for life. As sad as we feel that this experience is ending, we have no regrets. We feel we have achieved what we set out to do, which is to make people happy through our music. We humbly thank you, from the absolute bottom of our hearts, for your love, support, and inspiration that has given us this opportunity. It has been an honor and a privilege.

‘National Bohemian’ coming February 1st, 2011 + tour

The Bridge will release their fifth studio album National Bohemian on February 1, 2011 through Woodberry Records/Thirty Tigers. For the latest effort, we’ve enlisted Grammy Award-winning producer and Los Lobos multi-instrumentalist Steve Berlin to join the band behind the boards. Ranging from the sonically dense, voodoo-tinged rock of “Sanctuary” to the modern day murder ballad “Moonlight Mission,” the 11-track collection is shaped by the dynamics that distinguish the band’s two principle songwriters Cris Jacobs and Kenny Liner. Jacobs delivers Dixie-drenched southern soul, while Liner’s approach is steeped in swaggering American roots music. As a preview to the recording, we’re offering a free download of “Moonlight Mission” on the widget to the right.

Plans are set for The Bridge to tour throughout 2011 in support of National Bohemian. They’ll kick off the year sharing a three-night run with Trombone Shorty that includes New Year’s Eve at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. The band will then celebrate the album’s release by headlining a hometown record release party at Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore on January 29 (tickets onsale Friday December 10th @ 10am). In February, The Bridge will head out for a string of dates across the east coast with Tea Leaf Green before traveling to the midwest to support Galactic. The March leg includes the band’s first headline show at Cervante’s Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO.

We’ll be back at the 8×10 for our annual residency starting on Wednesday August 25th. We’ve got a limited number of tickets for sale with lower convenience fees on Bridge Ticketing. We personally selected the openers so come out early as they will not disappoint: 8/25- Zach Deputy, 9/1 – The Brew, 9/8- Yarn, 9/15 – The Quick and Easy Boys.

Bonnaroo and Beyond

Hello friends, hope everyone is good. This is an exciting time for us. We have just arrived in Portland to record our 3′rd, 4′th, or 5′th album. (depending how you count it) We truly feel blessed that our west coast family has again opened up their hearts and homes to The Bridge. Thank you. Taking our own homegrown family out here to complete this album, it is an electric time in our lives. We have great trust and optimistic anticipation in the driver’s seat.

Summer technically hasn’t even started yet, and we’ve enjoyed some great festivals. Right off the heels of Bonnaroo, we felt honored to be part one of the largest throw downs east of the Mississippi. Our set was right in the crossroads of a city of people in the middle of the hot, Tennessee wilderness. Festivals allow people to be a part of an alternate environment, manifested as a town or a city of people all there for music and a good time. Our Delfest late night set, which lasted until nearly 5am, featured a many guests including Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and can be downloaded FREE HERE.

Well be working hard but enjoying our time, so everyone else do the same and we will see you soon.

It’s Summer Festival Season!

Thanks for stopping by. Please be sure to look at the tour page for a complete list of all new shows. Thank you to the New England crew for making us feel right at home this past weekend. Anyway here’s the scoop.

This weekend is the kick-off of the 2010 festival season and we are ready! First we are Illinois bound for one of the greatest festivals in the Mid-West. Summercamp’s line-up is too good too and large to start rambling, so check it out, and come on out. If not, Saturday in Cumberland, MD is Delfest, one of our favorite festivals, period. A true celebration of bluegrass tradition and the McCoury musical legacy, and in our own backyard, we can not wait to enjoy the music in the mountains. It will be a nice way to slip in to this summer’s festivities.

Those travels will be taking us back and forth across the great divide. So we can make music for everyone to enjoy. We would love to see you guys out there, and hear from you right here. Please say hello and keep telling your friends to check us out, and then do the same.
